Reddit is one of the world’s most vibrant online-communities. There are a variety of Garmin-focused subreddits, and our watch faces have popped up often on subreddits like r/Garmin.

However, some fans have made posts that seem overly promotional and have gotten removed or downvoted. If you do plan to share your love for LuxeLion watch faces on Reddit, please review these best practices.

Show love, but avoid promotion Even though your love is authentic, the Reddit community is extremely sensitive to the appearance of promotion. So you should be very careful not to anger the community or the moderators by appearing to promotional. Make it clear that you found the watch face and want to share it. Never link directly to LuxeLion.com or the Garmin app store in your main post. Only share the link in the comments if the community asks.

Posts the Community Appreciated

The Garmin communities on Reddit appreciates posts:

That are authentic and about the watch itself
Include crisp, attractive photos you took of your watch
Show excitement for Garmin, your watch, or the hobbies you do with your Garmin (gym, running, hiking, swimming, etc.)
Do not include the link to LuxeLion or the Garmin store; people will ask for the link if they like the watch face)
If you do share a link, share a link to the app you love on apps.garmin.com, not LuxeLion.com

Here are some examples the community appreciated:

Why it was appreciated: This customer announced their new Marq to the r/Garmin subrreddit, showing off the Relux Daytona face they were sporting at the gym. The photo was remarkably crisp and clear (with out-of-focus background), it showed the Garmin in a place we all love to wear them (while working out), and it was not overly promotional about the watch face itself. Source.

Why it was appreciated: This customer spontaneously posted this photo after downloading the Relux Daytona face and falling in love. They were excited and authentic, but not overly promotional. The image was natural, well-focused, and showed how they wore it on their watch. The community heavily upvoted this and had an active, vibrant conversation. Source.

Posts that the community did not appreciate / removed

If you violate a rule, the moderators will remove your post. Even if they don’t, the community will not appreciate your post. Here are some posts that the community did not promote:

Why it wasn’t appreciated by the community: This especially enthusiastic customer recorded a video of her Relux Daytona Cosmos with a hand-drawn heart and later sent us the link. However, the post was in Spanish and the video was distorted and poorly-focused. The community downvoted this post. We appreciated the love, but we want all posts about LuxeLion to adhere to the community standards and expectations.

Why it wasn’t appreciated by the community: This happy customer was eager to share their watch face on Reddit. But the newness of their Reddit account paired with a promotional-sounding title (“perfect watch face”) and link to LuxeLion’s website caught the attention of the moderators. The moderators removed the post within about 6 hours, saying it was promotional. To avoid this, consider making your post mainly about the watch itself. For example, you can title your post “I love my new Marq” or “these watches are gorgeous.” If the community wants to know what watch face it is, let them ask for it.

Do’s and Don’ts of Respectful Reddit Posts

Please Do:

DO Create a brand new post in the community (see tips below)
DO Add a comment to an active thread (something posted within the last ~2 days)
DO Post a clear, well-focused photo you took of your watch showing off how you wear it
DO Share if you are new to Garmin or just got a new watch
DO Post in English

Please Do Not:

DO NOT Include links to LuxeLion.com or the Garmin store if the community doesn’t ask for it
DO NOT Be overly promotional (e.g. “I love this developer”, “this face is the best”)
DO NOT Post a fuzzy or unclear photo
DO NOT Post a photo you found online
DO NOT Post in a non-English language
DO NOT Add a comment to an existing post that’s been live for over 3 days

Other tips

If you’re creating a brand new Reddit account to begin posting, the community will think you are a spammer if the first post you make is something promoting a product (like a watch face). If you want to create a new Reddit account, you’re better off introducing yourself to the community with a photo of your watch. If they want to know what watch face it is, they will ask.
You can leave it up to the community to ask for the link to the watch face if they want it. Posts that just include the link in the original message tend to seem promotional, which is not allowed. But if the community wants to know what watch face it is, they will ask.
