How to pick an ODC for a slot using on-device settings
The LuxeLion on-device complication system has 3 slots (A, B, and C) that can each be assigned to one of the on-device complications published by your other apps and widgets. First, you’ll want to assign complications to those slots. Then, you can assign those slots to the metrics on your watch face.
Assigning complications to slots
Because the list of these published complications can only be known on the watch itself (and not in the settings of the ConnectIQ app), the only way to assign complications to these slots is using the on-device "Configure" menu. To access this menu, enter the mode on your watch for changing the watch face. From there, when you select the LuxeLion watch face, you’ll see the option to “Apply” or “Configure.” Select “Configure” to be brought to the on-device watch face settings menu.
Scroll down towards the bottom of the first menu until you find the option labeled “On-Device Complications” / “Set slots A, B, C”. Select that option.
After you scroll past an informational message, you’ll be presented with the three slots to fill. Pick one.
Next, you’ll be shown the list of all of the on-device complications that could be found on your device. Scroll through the list and pick the one you’d like to assign to that slot.
Once you make your selection, the slot will be assigned to that complication. Now you can proceed with assigning the slot to any of the metrics or gauges on your watch face.
Showing an ODC slot on your watch face
After you’ve assigned a complication to a slot, that slot is ready to be shown on the watch face. You can make this change from either the on-device settings menu or the Connect IQ app.
If you use the Connect IQ app, you’ll only see the name of the slot (for example, “Slot A: Device Complication”). It will not provide you the name of the actual complication that has been assigned to this slot.
If you use the on-device settings, it will show you the slot letter and the name of the assigned complication.
Ensuring data shows up
The Garmin Complications system is powerful but unfortunately still somewhat brittle and prone to issues. Even after you’ve followed the steps above, getting the data to show up can still be tricky.
Make sure you have recently opened the app that is publishing the complication. If you have not opened or launched that app since the app was downloaded or the watch was restarted, there will be no data available and you’ll see the “N/D” error. To resolve, this launch the app or widget and make sure it is properly configured with any necessary settings, license keys, or credentials.
What certain errors mean:
N/D
If you see the “N/D” error for an on-device complication, the most likely reason is because the app that publishes the complication is not running. Please start the app at least once.
SLOT?
If you see the “SLOT?” error in an on-device complication, that means that the given slot has not yet been assigned to an on-device complication. See the full instructions in this help article: Why am I seeing “SLOT?” on one of my metrics?
GONE!
You’ll see this error if the on-device complication you selected is no longer available or has been renamed. This could happen if you uninstalled the app or widget that publishes this complication. It could also happen if the app or widget developer has renamed the complication. For a more thorough explanation, see: Why am I seeing “GONE!” on one of my metrics?
Why the needle(s) might not show for some metrics
Not all complications provide range information that is necessary to show an analog gauge reading (e.g. a needle on a gauge). In these cases, the watch face may have an option to hide these analog display elements when there is no useful range information.
This can be the case when the complication publisher provides text instead of numbers. For example, if you’ve assigned a Continuous Glucose Monitoring complication to a specific slot and the publisher is sending “120 mg/dL” instead of just “120”, this text format will make it impossible for the LuxeLion watch face to parse the number and know what it means to be at the bottom or top of the range (i.e. 0% or 100%).
If you would like to see this kind of range information, please contact the developer of the complication publisher and request that they publish their data as a numerical value and provide range information.
