All our watch faces are built on a common platform that delivers powerful capabilities including on-device settings, performance optimizations for rendering, memory optimizations, and a user-friendly licensing system.
We develop our platform separately from the individual watch faces and then redeploy updates to our watch faces so they all get the benefits of the new platform.
Name | Released | Overview |
---|---|---|
October 5, 2024 | Platform 12, a giant leap forward, includes performance optimizations, battery savings, and support for the increased number of metrics offered by the data package. | |
September 18, 2023 | Platform 9 contains a minor stability improvement to address a rare crash on some devices. | |
August 8, 2023 | The 8th gen LuxeLion platform fixes license check issues that some customers experienced due to a Garmin bug I reported. It also better communicates license status. In addition, this platform update brings wider support for non-latin characters across more watch faces. Other fixes include: - Now shows bike/run distance in miles/km instead of meters - Fixed rare crashing issue related to certain sensor properties returning bad values | |
June 6, 2023 | Our 7th generation platform includes a compatibility mode for non-Latin languages (国语,日本語,עברית,हिन्दी,Русский язык). Our watch faces contain custom fonts for their designs, but these fonts do not contain non-Latin characters. As a result, users in non-Latin languages may not see certain text on their watch face (or will see the “▢” icon). When users select this option, the watch face uses system fonts that contain more characters. | |
June 1, 2023 | The 6th generation platform includes support for new models: Approach S70 and epix Pro (all sizes). | |
March 28, 2023 | The new LuxeLion Platform P5 is the companion to Data Platform 6, bringing numerous performance optimizations as well as configurable date & time options. | |
March 21, 2023 | LuxeLion Platform version P4 bring support for Garmin’s new “Hold-to-Open” (HTO) complication experience. All LuxeLion watch faces now support the ability to tap & hold on a metric on the screen to open the related app. For example, if you have the “Stress” metric on your LuxeLion watch face, you’ll be able to tap & hold the “Stress” icon to open the “Stress” app. This platform version also drastically improves memory usage and adds more helpful messaging to the unlock experience. The improvements & memory savings from this platform version will make possible a number of new features in the future. | |
March 12, 2023 | Platform version P3 adds a universal option to enable or disable the AMOLED protection feature on all Luxelion watch faces. This feature “jiggles” the watch face around the screen from minute-to-minute to reduce the chance of burn-in and extend the life of your display. You can access this setting from the on-device settings in the “See Advanced Settings” area. | |
March 5, 2023 | This new platform version (P2) includes major memory savings and a new “stats” module for reporting on metrics like time on screen, paint count, and number of wakes. It also makes the on-device settings menu easier to navigate. | |
February 15, 2023 | This is the initial platform launch (P1), with features including on-device settings and the option to print the draw time to the screen (for performance debugging). |
