Unlimited Trial Period

All LuxeLion watch faces provide an unlimited free trial period. The trial will prompt you to purchase a license after 5 days from your original installation date. If you uninstall and reinstall the face, you can get another 5-day trial period. You can purchase a license to skip this.

Getting Your License Key

You can purchase a license key at any time via our online store.

When you purchase a license from the store, we’ll email you your license key automatically. This key will unlock your watch face.

Initial Validation

When you first enter your license key and save the settings, your LuxeLion watch face will attempt to check the key with our online license validation service. This will happen automatically when you enter your key.

During a validation, remember these important facts:

The watch face must continue operating without interruption during the entire check.
The watch must be connected via bluetooth to your phone to have internet connection.

The initial check should complete within about 2-3 seconds after saving the license key. If you have any issues, please explore this article:

Scheduled key check

After the initial validation, your LuxeLion watch face will periodically check the license server to confirm your license remains valid. This is important for subscriptions, which can expire. Even one-time licenses may become invalid if there are issues with payment after it initially succeeded.

Check Interval

The check runs approximately once every 24 hours in the background while the watch is running.

When checks might fail

The check might not work for a number of reasons:

Checks don’t run when the watch face isn’t running
Checks don’t run when the watch is in low-power mode
Checks can’t run if your watch isn’t connected to your phone with an internet connection
There could be periodic outages with the licensing server (this is rare)

If the watch face is running but the check fails, it will automatically attempt again in 5 minutes. It will continue making attempts to check the server until it succeeds.

To preserve battery life, Garmin requires that watch faces wait 5 minutes between attempts to access the internet. This is why you may see a countdown that says “Waiting for Garmin.”

Memory period

Even if a key check doesn’t work, the watch will remember your last successful validation for a period of time. You should be able to continue using your watch face without interruption for a few days without an internet connection.

If the memory period expires, the watch face will deactivate and show you a “Scheduled key check” message. To resolve this, please leave your watch face running, connected to bluetooth, and able to access the internet. The license should automatically conduct the check.

Watch Face Launch Grace Period

15-Second Universal Grace Period

When you first launch a LuxeLion watch face, the first 15 seconds will display the normal watch face, regardless of the license status. This is helpful if you’re rotating through your watch faces. After the 15 second grace period, any licensing messages will appear on the screen.

6-Minute Scheduled Check Grace Period

For customers who have entered a license key but may be beyond the Memory Period described above, the watch face will continue to function as normal for up to 6 minutes. You may see an overlay message on the top counting down to the next key check. Please be patient while this completes, and leave the watch face running.
